Former Wayland High School standout Maggie Whitney was top finisher for Aquinas College Friday in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference cross-country meet at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. Whitney, a state qualifier in the 800-meter run and in cross-country while a Wildcat, took third place in the race and the Saints won the meet with 34 points, 15 better than runner-up Cornerstone. Whitney, a junior at Aquinas, also took first last month in the 800-meter run at the WHAC indoor track meet.
