Robby Young, a 2003 Wayland High School graduate, coached his Rampart High School varsity boys’ cross-country team to its seventh conference championship in the last nine years Thursday afternoon in Colorado Springs. The Rampart Lady Rams finished second in the league meet at the same time. Young was an all-state cross-country runner at Wayland and went on to be an NCAA Division II All-American in cross country and in the steeplechase, running for Grand Valley State University. He and his wife, Sarah, live in Colorado Springs with their son, Corvid, nearing 2 years old, and he is an earth science and physics teacher at Rampart.

Congrats, Robby! It sounds like maybe your experience as a high school all state runner, and as a collegiate All American may have contributed to your success as a coach. Congrats to the teams, too.
