Wayland High School senior guard Liberty Laker is recuperating from a potentially serious injury she suffered in the second half of Wednesday night’s district semifinal basketball game.
She was taken by ambulance away from the game site and needed help with breathing.
A source close to the situation reported, “She stayed home from school yesterday. She was hit in the throat during the game, and it caused a larynx spasm, which caused swelling and made it where she couldn’t breathe, so they had to rush her to the hospital and get it under control. She’s OK now.”
Liberty, unfortunately, was playing in her last high school basketball game. She and younger sister Harmony are the daughters of former Wayland High School athletic stars Lance and Kara (Potter) Laker.
