Sydney Urben might be accustomed to wearing medals around her neck.

Wayland High School senior Sydney Urben outbowled everybody in the house at the Portage Invitational Friday afternoon.

Urben placed first individually, not only among the girls, but also bettered all scores by boys.

The Lady Wildcats finished fourth in the team competition.

However, it was another rough day, meanwhile, as the Wayland boys’ squad finished 14th out of 17 teams.

“I should mention the teams we beat were JV teams,” said a disappointed coach Sherry Miklusicak. “It was pretty dreadful and we are looking forward to a better day tomorrow. I happened to leave my stats at Eastland lanes – that must have been subliminal.”

Bright spots were Dylan Roberts who missed the top singles by just 20 pins on a tough shot for all bowlers. The other bright spot was senior Hunter Osborn who led the Wildcats with a 172.
