Wildcat bowlers continue winning ways on the lanes

Forgive the pun, but the Wayland boys’ and girls’ bowling teams are still rolling along.

The Wayland boys, still tied for first place in the O-K Gold Conference, took down Forest Hills Eastern Monday afternoon for a second time this year 23-7. The Lady Wildcats won handily, 29-1, because Forest Hills Eastern has only one bowler.

The first Baker game for the guys was a rough one again, but Baker two put them in the lead. Wayland lost the first one 151-143, (just one spare) but took the second game 175-107.

Match one had Louie Harnish 175-160, Jayse Henkel also winning 176-125, Wil Dewing 218-201, Kyle VanEss 183-164. Dominik Baker lost a close one, 172-167. Game one Wayland total was 926 and Forest Hills Eastern 822.

“That is a good cushion,” noted coach Sherry Miklusicak. “We were up 14-5. FHE would have to sweep every single point in game two.”

Game two had Louie Harnish again winning his point 147-116, Jayse Henkel won again as well, 173-148, and Wil Dewing as anchor, 186-169.  Total pins this match was Wayland 841and FHE 808.

Girls’ coach Eric Bottrall commented, “It was another win for our ladies, but not how we like to win. We swept Bakers as the opposing team has to take zeros for the absent bowlers.

The individual scores were Ava Harnish 79, Madison Bottrall 109, Brooke Trumbull 105, Izzy Botwinskiz 129, Haven Baker 167, Jasmine Ortiz 113, Faith Rabideau 107, Ashlynn Dykstra 114, Izzy Botwinski 170 and Haven Baker 170

The Wildcats will face Kenowa Hills on Wednesday. The guys are 8-1 in dual matches. The girls are 7-2.
