The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team registered its second dual match victory of the season Monday afternoon with a 28-2 decision over Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills.
The Lady Wildcats, meanwhile, won by forfeit.
The Wildcat boys set a new team high for this season. They moved quickly out of the gate by taking the baker games and found themselves up quickly 10-0 in the baker games. Stephen Harnish went 3-for-4 in marking, as did Chandler Caruso and Max Oosterhouse, sporting a new bowling ball.
Anchor Mark Musgrave III marked in all four frames., as they rolled games of 161 and 171, “which is an improvement for us,” said coach Sherry Miklusicak.
Taking individual points in game one were Deven Gardner, Stephen Harnish (175), Chandler Caruso (193) and Musgrave with a 254 game Miklusicak called “absolutely amazing. That’s what happens when you get some strikes and no opens! I am pretty sure that is his high game and I knew it was on his mind, so I started talking to him about baseball or anything to keep his mind off his score.”
This was a new team high for the Wayland boys this season, rolling an 884.
The second game was a bit lower, but the Wildcats still took command of points earned with Caruso, Gardner, Harnish and Musgrave (177).
Wayland will roll at Spectrum Lanes against South Christian Wednesday.
“We lost earlier this season in a close fight on our home lanes (Rock ‘N Bowl) and now it is time for paybacks!” the coach commented.
