The Wayland High School boys’ cross country team finished eighth among 10 teams Wednesday in the Saranac Invitational.

Jenison was first in the competition with 35 points and Rockford was second with 57. Wayland’s 250 placed it ahead of Ionia and Wyoming.

Senior Dylan Pallett was the top Wildcat runner, taking 23rd place with a 5K time of 17:40.1. He was followed by sophomore Mason Fein in 61st place in 19:33.2, Ethan Manning 63rd, Kyan Lawrence 92nd and Arquimedes Miguel-Garcia 93rd.

The Wayland girls’ team recorded a team score of 308 and was 10th among 11 teams.

Freshman Abree VanDenBrink led the ‘Cats with a 71st-place finish, followed by freshman Ashley Larsen 73rd, Megan Stack 81st, Held Rhyaenen 82nd and Sarah Osborn 85th.

Rockford won with 35 team points.
