The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team qualified sixth out of 20 teams Saturday in the Jenison Invitational.
Wildcat Chandler Caruso made the top 10, finishing in eighth place, Kyle VanEss followed closely in 13th, Stephan Harnish finished 24th.
“Our boys had a good day against many good Division 1 teams today,” remarked coach Sherry Miklusicak.
In the first match, the Wildcatsrolled an 869 which put them in third place. Chandler Caruso’s 211 led the team, followed by Stephen Harnish 204 and Kyle VanEss 180.In the second game, they faltered a little bit and rolled a more than respectable 787. The two best games of 199 and 188 belonged to Kyle VanEss and Chandler Caruso.
“The bottom fell out a bit in the bakers with scores of 115, 163, 134, 145, 131, and then thankfully a 192 game to end the round, “Miklusicak said.
Kyle VanEss marked 11 out of 16 baker frames.
Wayland will have a busy week ahead with three matches during the week and another tournament next Saturday.
