Wildcat boys doubled up by quality GR Catholic Central

Wayland boys’ bowling coach Sherry Miklusicak called it “a tough afternoon despite bowling well, losing 20-10 to Catholic Central.

“Our plan was to take both baker games to have a chance of winning and we started out very well early in baker game one with a turkey (three strikes in a row). The first game wasn’t meant to be though, rolling a 176 is a very decent game.”

The Wildcats lost the second baker game as well, and found themselves down 10-0.

Plan B for Wayland then was to bowl 20 pins over averages.

“We were up against games of 191, 244 and 192, as that was the top three Cougar scores,” explained Miklusicak.

Jayse Henkel and Stephen Harnish took their match points, and as a team the ‘Cats rolled 815.

“We fared a little better in match two, as we took three points and total despite Catholic rolling games of 190, 247, and 212.

Jayse Henkel (high game 198), Wil Dewing, Dominik Baker all took their points. The local team came up with 864 pins this game.

“We hope to have more success tomorrow afternoon against Cedar Springs,” the coach added.
