Wildcat boys’ harriers take 5th at Delton Invitational

The Wayland boys’ varsity cross-country team checked in fifth in the 12-team Delton Invitational Thursday at the Gilmore Car Museum.

The Wayland girls were unable to field a full team of five runners and did not have a team score posted.

The Wildcats collected 118 team points, 10 behind fourth-place Paw Paw. Plainwell won the competition with 36.

Senior Isaac Dyer finished in the top 10, taking sixth place with a 5K time of 17:35.06. Dylan Pallett was 11th in 17:58.63 and freshman Xander Stepek was 16th in 18:03.59. Freshman Mason Fein was 42nd in 19:44.55 and sophomore Ethan Manning was 51st in 20:11.71.

Senior Elliot Antel placed 15th individually for the Lady Wildcats with a five-kilometer time of 22:50.58.

Megan Stack finished 62nd, Sarah Osborn 100th and Alyssa Lawrence 131st.

Grand Rapids Covenant Christian won the meet with 36 points and Plainwell was runner-up.

There were nine teams that recorded scores in the meet.
