Wildcat boys improve on lanes in dual match loss

free-bowling-clipart-xcgjazecaThe Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team lost 27-3 in a dual match Monday afternoon against Forest Hills Eastern.

Coach Sherry Miklusicak said despite the lack of closeness in the final score, she was pleased with the progress of her young team members. Wayland lost four of its top five bowlers last year to graduation.

“This young team has made some progress since Saturday’s tournament,” she said, referring to the Wildcats’ 15th place finish in the 17-team Wyoming Invitational. “We were finding the pocket better tonight than we were Saturday.”

Miklusicak pointed out that FHE had finished more than 400 pins ahead of Wayland Saturday.

“One bright spot tonight was that we only needed 9 pins to win the first Baker game, which could have been easily accomplished with a few more pins or an extra strike or spare,” she adde. “Our other bright spot was that we only needed 5 pins to win the first set of individual games. Those two close calls would have gained at least 8 more points in the overall score.

The brightest spot of the evening with sophomore Christian Courser, who led the team with a high game of 230 for the evening. Christian had not bowled before joining the team last year as a freshman and has improved tremendously.”
