The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team came up with a big league victory Tuesday at Hudsonville Unity Christian by registering a 26-4 verdict.
The triumph improved the team’s league record to 7-1 and the Wildcats now are 9-3 overall. Their only league loss was to Byron Center.
“Team leadership took over tonight as the boys had a convincing win over Unity Christian,” said coach Sherry Miklusicak.
Wayland won both Baker games with scores of 877-814 and 942-867. Up by a score of 10-0 at this point the ‘Cats took 7 out of 9 points in game one of the individuals. High scores by Nick Couturier 216 and Austen Beggs 204 (wait ’til you see his next game!). In the second game Wayland again took 7 out of 9 points, plus 2 for the grand total. High scores this game were Cameron Heintzelman 216 and Austen Beggs 256.
Couturier finished with a fine two-game series of 408 while Austen Beggs rolled an outstanding 460 series.
