The Wayland boys’ varsity soccer team absorbed its third straight loss this season, a 3-2 heart-breaker to Zeeland West Thursday evening.
Coach Ben Sleeman reported, “The first half looked like things might get away from the Wildcats with Zeeland scoring three unanswered goals. However, in the second half, the boys turned up the intensity and added two goals, one from Tristen Ortiz and another from Austin VanHees bringing the game back within their reach. Unfortunately, a crossbar and a few nice saves from the Zeeland West goal keeper prevented the Wildcats from tying things up down the stretch.”
The boys will be back in action Monday as they travel to Allendale.
