The Wayland High School boys’ cross-country team’s successes continued Monday afternoon when it took second place in the Coach B Yankee Springs Invitational.

The Wildcats were bested in the Thornapple Division only by Division 1 Caledonia. The Wayland girs’ squad captured third place. Behind Caledonia and host Thornapple Kellogg.

All five Wildcat boys’ runners earned medals in the race. Senior ace Devin Weaver finished third, Dylan Pallett was sixth, Isaac Dyer 10th, Travis Koon 13th and James Butler 17th.

Medalists for the girls were senior Olivia Barabas runner-up, Noelle House 17th, Elliot Antel  23rd and Emma Thayer.

The Wayland boys’ squad thus far this season has won the Delton Invitational and a quad meet and finished second in the first O-K Gold Conference meet and Yankee Springs.

Freshman Jack Estelle paed the Hopkins boys with a time of 19:26.58, followed by Kenyon Katje in 53rd, Nathan Onderlinde 77th, Adam Halsed 80th and Vijay DeZeeuw 81st.

The Hopkins girls’ team had three place in the top 15, with Neveah Helderop fifth, Kambria Moored 11th and Jaeden Harshergaer 12th. Abigail Zalis was 32nd and Navaya Ingle 49th.
