Three-time winner Breanna Hyde

The Wayland boys’ varsity track team scored dual meet victories Thursday over O-K Gold Conference opponents Forest Hills Eastern 76-61 and South Christian 91-46.

The Wildcat girls split, beating South Christian 81-55, but losing to the Hawks 77-60.

The Wildcat boys did very well in sprints and the hurdles and got some pleasant surprises in the field events.

Junior sprinter Kaharrie Pureifoy was first in the 100-meter dash in 11.32 and in the 200 at 23.04.

Cannon Fenn won the 400-meter run, 52.3, and teammate Aidan Reeder second.

Austin Graham tooks firsts in both the 110-meter highs, 17.05, and in 300-meter hurdles, 42.98. Terry Sylvester added a second.

Sylvester, Graham, Cam Mouketou and Pureifoy won the 400-meter relay in 43.90.

Adam Huff, captured first places in the shot put at 46-04.5 and in the discus with a 147-02.

Bryce Drew was a pleasant surprise by winning the high jump at 5-08 and Cam Mouketou was first in long jump, 20-04.75, Pureifoy was second.

There were some solid performances by Lady Wildcats as well.

Breanna Hyde was first in 100-meter dash in 13.97, the 100-meter hurdles, 17.74 and the long jump 15-7.5.

Taylor Wolf, Ana Teunissen, Faith Rollandini and Laney Wolf took first in 400-meter relay. Taylor Wolf, Elliot Antel, Ana Teunissen and Olivia Barabas hooked up to win the 800 relay in 1:54.4.

MacKenzie Haveman, Karley Davis and Madalynn Terry, went 2-3-4, in the shot put.

Evie Mathis, Kennedy Jasinki and Megan Stack went 1-2-3 in the pole vault. Mathis, the school record holder in the event, cleared 10-6 and after learning she had already won, she elected to not take any changes on further aggravating a hamstring injury she suffered earlier this spring.
