The Wayland boys’ varsity track team defeated Forest Hills Eastern 84–49 Wednesday in an O-K Gold Conference dual meet

The girls, however, suffered a 103-25 setback at the hands of the Hawks, whom coach Rat Antel described as “very deep.”

Wildcat boys’ coach Marty Howard said, “There was improvement across the board and the boys were able to win 10 events in the meet.”

He singled out the performances of Caleb Pletcher, Ashton Ordway, Jacob Butler and David Ruzskowski.

There was a problem with the scoring apparatus, so meet times, distance and heights have not been sent to Wayland as yet.
Winning events for the Wildcats were:

  • Pole vault — Anthony Muscarella
    • Long jump — Devin Jakey
    • High jump- Caleb Pletcher
    • 110 high hurdles — Lee Anderson
    • 800-meter relay — Devin Jakey, Anthony Muscarella, Lee Anderson and Caleb Wolf
    • 400 meters — Caleb Wolf
    • 300 intermediate hurdles — Lee Anderson
    • 200 meters — Caleb Wolf
    • 3200 meters — Jon Zuiderveen
    • 1600 relay- Caleb Wolf, Lee Anderson, Jacob Butler and Anthony Muscarella.

Highlighting the girls’ meet was Maggie Whitney, who ran a lifetime PR (personal record) in the 800 (2:26.86).

Corrina Courser won the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.77 seconds and she was second in 100-meter highs and third in the 200.

Antel said, “Our 4 x 800 team of Grace Hasse, Abigail Hasse, Riley Cronkright, and Whitney made it close, and ran a seasonal PR of 10:46.0.”

Cronkright finished third in the 1600 and won the 3200 in a time of 13:11.11.
