Wildcat boys win Comstock Invitational, Vikings take 3rd

ZuiderveenCarter in relayThe Wayland boys’ track team copped first place Monday in the Comstock Invitational with 182 points and Hopkins took third with 109.

Winners for Wayland included:

  • Macarty Carpenter, 48’8.5″ in the shot put and 136’3″ in the discus.
  • Perry Carter, 11’0″ in the pole vault and 4:56.6 in the 1600-meter run.
  • Carter, Jeremy Pletcher, Caleb Pletcher, Owen Glass in the 3200 relay, 8:59.49.
  • Lee Anderson, 300 low hurdles, 43.16.
  • Owen Glass, 800 meters, 2:11.48.
  • Jonathan Zuiderveen, 3200 meters, 10:48.11.

Hopkins also scored a trophy for being runner-up among Division 3/4 schools at the meet.

Event champions were:

  • Logan Blank (110-meter hurdles)
  • Jake Sytsma (high jump)
  • 4×400 Relay — Dan Rausch, Nick Belka, John Parmeter, Zach Rietman.

PHOTOS: Perry Carter won the pole vault, the 1600 and was in the winning 3200 relay.

Jonathan Zuiderveen won the open 3200.
