The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team hiked its dual match record overall to 12-1 Wednesday afternoon at t he Rock ’N Bowl Lanes with a victory over South Christian.

The Lady Wildcats, however, suffered a 19-11 defeat.

As what seems customary, the Wildcats lost Baker game one by one pint 155-154, but followed suit by taking Baker game two, 182-172.

“The scores were were too close for comfort, but they made things exciting!” exclaimed coach Sherry Miklusicak. 

Louie Harnish took both points in match play, 178 and 174. Jayse Henkel took his points with a 143 and 168.  Wil Dewing took his first point with a 196.  Dominik Baker Baker took his match two point with a 183 and Kyle VanEss took his last point.  

Team totals were taken by Wayland as well.  Match one was 866-784 and match two was 818-716.

“The lanes dried up in match two and everyone struggled to adjust, but that is what good bowlers do,” Miklusicak commented.

The Wildcat ladies lost the first Baker game by only 5 pins and South was hot in the second Baker game, rolling a 180. The girls were down 10-0.

In match one, Ava Harnish took her point, as did Faith Rabideau. That gave Wayland two points.

In match two, Jasmine Ortiz and Ava Harnish earned two more points. Haven Baker tried valiantly to snag as many points as she could. Her 220 game was definitely a point and all the extra pins helped take total in game two and had enough extra to take the two game total as well.

Coach Eric Bottrall said Wayland basically won the individual games, 11-9, but the the “Baker games just hurt us too much today.”
