Wildcat defensive problems continue in 51-6 loss to Zeeland West

VanDyke running TEThe Wayland varsity football team continues to show flashes of brilliance in its passing game, but it lost its third straight game without a win this season Friday night by a 51-6 score.

The Wildcat defense has given up a whopping 141 points in its three games thus far. The powerhouse Dux scored 24 points in the opening period and added 20 more in the second to mount a 44-0 cushion at the half and start the running clock in the third quarter.

Wayland scored its only TD in the third quarter.

Senior quarterback Tanner VanDyk accumulated 264 yards passing and receiver Mike Kelly hauled in six aerials for 136 yards. VanDyk was intercepted twice.

Zeeland West now is 3-0 for the season. Wayland is 0-3.
