Word on the street is that the Wayland varsity girls’ bowling team captured first place in today’s O-K Gold Conference tournament at Spectrum Lanes in Grand Rapids.

Undisclosed sources report that Lady Wildcats’ junior Kadence Bottrall rocked the house, taking first place individually in the tournament. Senior Bella Harnish, who placed fifth, and Breanna Hyde all were selected to the all-conference team.

Bottrall also recorded the top individual average in the league for the season, followed by Harnish in second place.

Junior Stephen Harnish placed honorable mention in the O-K Gold on the guys’ side of the competition. However coach Sherry Miklusicak said her boys’ group rolled close to a 200 average in on game, but otherwise had a disappointing day.

Lady Wildcats’ coach Eric Bottrall said, “Today was a great day to be a Wayland Wildcat! Our ladies showed a lot heart as they stumbled out the gates game one. Down by over hundred pins the ladies climbed back into the lead by game three. It was truly a team effort today.

“Our ladies sure were supportive of each other, as we had some struggles today. First place at the tournament today and the 2022 OK Gold Ladies Champs!

“It was cool to see we Had the top two highest average ladies in our conference! Super job ladies today! Now carry that moment into regionals next weekend.”

The coach said his girls came over to his house to celebrate Saturday evening for some stuffed shells, cards and cupcakes.
