The Wayland boys’ varsity basketball team lost an O-K Gold Conference encounter with Grand Rapids Catholic Central Thursday night, 78-33.
The Lady Wildcats’ game at GRCC was canceled, perhaps by the Covid-19 pandemic, but no official reason was given.
Former Dorr Township Treasurer Jim Martin, who serves as statistician for Catholic Central, said it’s possible that Wayland’s roster was depleted. Working the scorebook, he noted the starters were Brett Bultema, Elijah Dollarhide, Brady Dobry, Elijah Maas and Nate Savinsky, all sophomores except Dobry, a junior.
The Wildcat boys and girls are scheduled to play Saturday at Grand Rapids Catholic Central, the boys at 11:30 a.m., the girls 1 p.m.
