Four points are awarded for Baker wins and two points for the total of the Baker games.

High games of the evening were turned in by Kadence Bottrall 185, Breanna Hyde 185 and Bella Harnish 192. Hyde took both match points along with Harnish. Bottrall took the point in her match and Lauren Healy took a point as well.

Meanwhile, the Wayland boys came out on fire, taking the first Baker match of the year 185-177, but then fizzled out, losing the second Baker game, 203-159.

Stephen Harnish averaged 202 for the afternoon and was the only Wildcat to earn two more points. He took his first point 218-151 and his second point 186-180.

“Our men were ahead in individual match one for the first half of the game and then it was pretty much even in the seventh and eighth frames,” explained boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak. “We then lost momentum and pretty much beat ourselves up in the last two frames. We will need to find a way to finish strong.”

Freshman Ashton Kasprowicz was on fire on the jayvee lanes so he was pulled in to fill in a few frames in his first varsity exposure.

He definitely would have had a 200 game if he would have had the opportunity to finish it,” Miklusicak said. “We needed him on Varsity and he came through in the tenth frame for us.”

Carson Beck also nailed a 200 game during the last game for the junior varsity after starting for the varsity team. Aydin Tolliver also subbed into the varsity match after coach observed him rolling his ball very well. His first roll was a strike.

“Overall, we lost to a division 1 team,” the coach said. “Our team scores, would have won quite a few conference matches last year, so we are happy with our first match of the season.

The Wildcat boys and girls this afternoon will take on another division 1 team, Rockford, at Rock ‘N Bowl just north of Wayland.
