Wildcat girls win bowling opener, but boys take a loss

The Wayland girls’ bowling team launched its 2022-23 season with a a huge 27-3 victory 27-3 over Division 1 Jenison, but the boys went down 24-6 at the Rock ‘n Bowl Lanes just north of Wayland.

The Wildcat ladies win the baker game one 142-109 and game two 141-136 to take a 10-0 lead.

In match one, Breanna Hyde 156, Haven Baker 154, Madison Bottrall 98, and Izzy Botwinski 162 all took their points.  Kadence Bottrall’s 198 added in some total pins and the dual match was won at this point.  

In match two, Hyde, despite rolling a 189 lost her point, a solid performance. according to coach Eric Bottrall.

Haven Baker 157, Izzy Botwinski 198 and Kadence Bottrall 209 took additional points to add icing to the cake.

Wayland boys split with Jenison in the baker games.  Dominik Baker, Will Dewing, Kyle VanEss, and Chandler Caruso all marked three out of four of their frames.  Also seeing action in the Baker games were Jayse Henkel and Aydin Tolliver.

The boys rolled a decent 755 in the first game, Jenison’s 916 preaviled. Kyle VanEss and Chandler Caruso (188) both took points.

In game two, Dominik Baker and Aydin Tolliver rolled 184 games.

“I think we will be seeing more of those two!” exclaimed coach Sherry Miklusicak. “Aydin also had a 185 in game one on the JV side.”

Bowling well on the JV side tonight were Raynie Arendson with a 121, Rylan Guppy with a 120, Jayse Henkel 122, and Stephen Harnish 169.

The ladies and gentlemen are off to Hasting’s Bowl tomorrow to take on Thornapple Kellogg.
