The Wayland boys’ varsity cross-country team took another runner-up placing, this time Saturday morning in the Cedar Springs Invitational.
The Wildcats, who have been second thus far in league jamborees, accumulated 64 team points to finish behind only Division 1 Rockford, which had 30. Host Cedar Springs was right behind Wayland in third with 67.
As usual, senior Devin Weaver paced the ‘Cats, finishing fourth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:48.10. Sophomore Dylan Pallett was eighth in 17:05.46, junior Isaac Dyer 13th in 17:51.02, senior Travis Koon 14th in 17:53.75 and junior James Butler 33rd in 18:50.65.
The girls’ squad finished fifth with 122 points. Rockford won that race as well, with 41.
Senior standout Olivia Barabas was seventh for the Lady Wildcats, in 20:22.16. Noelle House was 16th in 21:47.03, Emma Thayer was 40th, freshman Megan Stack 56th and Emily Tuinstra 61st.
