Wildcat jayvees sport even better hoops record than varsity’s

The Wayland boys’ varsity basketball team has a fine 7-2 overall record on the season and is ranked No. 6 in the latest Class B state poll, but the junior varsity sports an even better record at 8-1.

The Wildcat jayvees, coached by Chris Jasinski, have lost just once, 71-65 to Grand Rapids South Christian. They pulled out a 64-62 thriller over East Grand Rapids Tuesday evening.

The Wildcat squad, all sophomores, includes Jaden Lyle, Carson Sevigny, Ternor Hudson, Caleb Wolf, Evan LeDere, Devin Jakey, Tyler Chiaramonte, Seth Sevenski-Popma, Rob Bausick and Isaiah Edney.

They will have a rematch at South Christian Thursday, Feb. 4.
