The Wayland varsity baseball team has logged a 1-12 record overall thus far this season.

The Wildcats most recently lost a doubleheader against O-K Gold Conference rival Wyoming, 19-5 and 9-3. One of the few bright spots was a home run by catcher Ben Barnes.

Wayland’s only victory on the diamond this season was a 6-5 thriller April 10 pulled out by a three-run homer by Carter Morse in the final inning against Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

The Wildcats will play at Wyoming again Thursday and will be hosts for the Wayland Invitational Saturday.

The win total in this article is wrong. As of 5 days ago the cats had 3 wins. Now they have 4. Not a big deal but it is something.

Jon Gambee told me as much Saturday. On the web site it was listed as 1-12. If there was an ounce of cooperation from the coaches and athletic department, we wouldn't have this problem.
