The Wayland High School softball battery of pitcher Emma Ludema and catcher Kennedy Cole both have been named to the Division 2 all-state team.
The two played major roles in the Wildcats fashioning a 37-2 overall record and coming to within a run in extra innings (for the second year in a row) of beating the state champion team.
Ludema, who tossed several no-hitters and twirled a perfect game in the district finals, will pitch for Calvin University.
Cole, who played errorless ball at catcher and was one of the top home run hitters on the squad, will take her talents to Kent State.
Earning honorable mention accolades were Wayland second sacker Kami Morse and first sacker Emma Tornes and Hopkins freshman catcher Lyla Reynolds.
