Wildcats bow out of own volleyball invitational in quarterfinals

Van Malsen Swan anticipateThe Wayland varsity volleyball team lost 25-20 and 25-14 in the quarterfinals of the Wayland Invitational Saturday to Caledonia.

In pool play the Lady Wildcats beat Hamilton, split with Plainwell and Unity Christian and lost East Grand Rapids, which went undefeated and was the eventual tournament champion.

Leading the Wildcats statistically were Sydney Ritz and Kamie Swan, 26 kills;
Taryn Coughlin with five blocks and Sydney Ritz four; Swan with seven serving aces and Emily Johnson five; Leigha Morse, 73 assists and Lyndie VanMalsen 97 digs.
