The Wayland varsity football team concluded its season Friday night at Grand Rapids Christian with a 44-20 defeat.

The Wildcats, who started the season with a shutout and a 3-0 record, lost five of their last six contests to finish the season with a 4-5 overall record. They were 2-4 in the O-K Gold Conference.

Wayland, which has enjoyed only one winning season since 2008, yielded 223 points in those last six games, average of 37 per contest.
