Though the Wayland boys’ bowling team fell behind quickly Wednesday afternoon to Forest Hills Eastern, it rebounded to capture to capture a 16.5 to 13.5 victory at the Rock ‘N Bowl Lanes.
Coach Sherry Miklusicak said, “We did not show up for the first Baker game, losing 138-193. We performed better in the second Baker, but so did the Hawks, losing 183-212. We found ourselves down 10-0, which is a dire place to dig out of.
“We would need to take at least 16 of the remaining 20 possible points..”
They did.
Jayse Henkel rolled a 181, Wil Dewing 183, Carter Decker 165, Dominik Baker 141, and Kyle VanEss 207 in the first match, taking 7.5 out of 9 possible points.
“This was in reach now, but we would have to do it again,” Miklusicak said.
Match two scores were quiet chants of “this is our house” and the Wildcats got a 213 from Wil Dewing, 186 from Warren Smith, 121 from Carter Decker, 166 from Jayse Henkel, and 204 from Kyle VanEss.

The coach noted that on the JV lanes tonight Wayland defeated FHE 18-12 with Louie Harnish leading the team with a 162 and a 207. Other bowlers winning match points were Zach Straub 135 and Raynie Arendsen 165.
The Wayland girls’ bowling squad posted a 30-0 decision because Forest Hills Eastern had only one female bowler.
