The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team Tuesday played competitively, but ultimately lost 6-2 to Holland.

Taking wins for the Wildcats were second singles Cam Sieffert, playing through obstacles such as broken strings and worn out shoes, but still winning 6-1, 6-4; and at third singles Chesney Hudson, playing consistent, efficient tennis and taking his match 6-0, 6-0.

Jacob VanDuine at fourth singles again played his opponent to a third set tie-breaker in what is becoming his trademark style. This time, however, Jacob came up just short, falling in the 10-point tie-breaker in the third set, 10-8.

Coach Ben Adams said, “This was a significant warm-up match for the Wildcats, as they prepare for the O-K Gold Conferece tournament Wednesday, Oct. 3.
