Wildcats defeat Hastings in Gold dual to lift record to 2-1

The Wayland boys’ track team tooWHS boys track teamk a 76-61 decision Wednesday at Hastings to move its O-K Gold Conference dual meet record to 2-1.

“The boys emerged victorious with some excellent performances and smartly run races ,” said coach Marty Howard.

He singled out the performances of newcomer Devin Jakey, Lee Anderson, Evan Cater and Caleb Pletcher.

Highlights from the meet:

• 3200-meter relay: Jeremy Pletcher, Caleb Pletcher, Evan Cater and Owen Glass in 8:58.44.
• 110-meter high hurdles: Lee Anderson, 16.59 seconds.
• 1600-meter run: Jeremy Pletcher, 4:58.17.
• 400 meters: Seth Sevenski-Popma, 53.82.
• 300-meter low hurdles: Lee Anderson, 43.12.
• 800 meters: Owen Glass, 2:10.55.
• 1600 relay: Jeremy Pletcher, Lee Anderson, Seth Sevenski-Popma and Owen Glass, 3:46.98
• Pole vault: Owen Glass 11’6.″
• Shot put: Macarty Carpenter 46’6.″
• High jump: Caleb Pletcher 5’6.″
• Discus: Macarty Carpenter 130’6.75.″
