The Wayland boys’ varsity cross-country team placed sixth once again in an O-K Gold Conference jamboree, this one on Tuesday at the Yankee Springs State Park, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg’s home course.

The Wildcats recorded a team score of 140, finishing ahead of the host school and Kenowa Hills. Forest Hills Eastern again took top honors with 45.

The Wayland girls’ team again failed to filed the minimum requirement of five individual runners and did not register a score.

Junior Dylan Pallett paced the Wildcats again, taking fifth place in 16:51.63 on the fife-kilometer course. Senior Isaac Dyer was 11th in 17:11.27, freshman Mason Fein was 39th in 18:56.93, sophomore Ethan Manning 44th in 19:26.85, and Carter VanWyk was 80th in 21:36.53.

Wayland ran without the services of its customary third runner, freshman Xander Stepek, who was competing in soccer.

Senior Elliot Antel checked in 37th with a time of 22:57.85 to lead the Wildcat girls, sophomore Megan Stack was 55th, junior Sarah Osborn 85th and senior Alyssa Lawrence 98th.

Middlevilletook first place on its home course in the jamboree.
