Wildcats fail to keep lead, fall to Ottawa Hills in OT

Wayland couldn’t hold on to a 22-8 lead Friday night against Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills and eventually lost a 28-22 overtime football contest Houseman Field.

The Bengals scored 14 unanswered points late in the ballgame to tie the count at the end if regulation and they scored a touchdown in the extra session to win it.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-4 for the season overall and 0-2 in the O-K Gold Conference. Ottawa Hills, the only team Wayland has beaten since the 2018 season, now is 2-2.

Wayland have its homecoming football game Friday evening against South Christian.
