The Wayland varsity baseball team lost 8-5 in a nonleague game Thursday afternoon to Holland West Ottawa.
The defeat dropped the Wildcats’ season record to 1-3.
Wayland scored two runs in the top of the second inning and added three more in the sixth. The Panthers plated a single run in the first inning and added four in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Jack Marcinek, Hunter Brown and Chris Kincaid all had multi-hit games, while Sean Maddux had a double driving in two runs.
The Wildcats next square off in the Grand Haven Invitational this Saturday at 11 a.m.
