Wayland’s nightmarish winless streak on the gridiron came to an end Friday night 33-6, putting positive finishing touches on combination homecoming-Parents’ Night festivities.
The Wildcats halted a 17-game losing streak that spanned the last three seasons by taking down a Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills squad that entered the contest with a losing streak of 13. Make that 14.
Wayland took control early, sporting a 20-0 at intermission and coasting in the second
half.
It was the first victory for head coach Tim Gibson, who returned to Wayland this fall after leaving a decade and a half ago to guide Forest Hills Eastern.
