The Wayland boys’ varsity track team Friday finished third in the 15-team Allegan Invitational with 67 points, just missing second place by two points.

The girls’ squad settled for seventh among 14 teams with 39.75 points. St. Joseph won both the boys’ and girls’ competition.

The only Wildcat to score a first place finish, to the surprise of no one, was freshman pole vaulter Evie Mathis, who cleared 11-0.

Junior sprinter Kaharrie Pureifoy turned in his best performance ever in the 100-meter dash at 11.14 seconds, but had to settle for fourth place. He also was second in the long jump at 18-11 and Cam Mouketou was fifth.

Austin Graham had his personal best 16.21 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles, but was runner-up and teammate Terry Sylvester was sixth. Bryce Drew leaped his best, 5-10 in the high jump and was fourth.

Aiden Reeder fifth in the 400. Dylan Pallett sixth in 3200. Adam Huff sixth in shot put, third in discus.

Reeder, Graham, Cam Moutekou and Cainon Fenn third in the 1600 relay at 1:34.4, just missing second by eight-hundredths of a second.

Reeder Margin Howard. Devin Weaver and Fenn fourth in 1600 relay, 3:37.91.

Pallett, Travis Koon, James Butler and Weaver third in 3200 relay, 8:44.71.

Breanna Hyde just missed first in the long jump, as she leaped 16 feet, 0.5 inches. Hyde took third place in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.17 seconds, just 15-hundredths of a second away from second.

The 400-meter relay team of Taylor Wolf, Ana Teunissen, Hyde and Faith Rollandini placed fifth, barely missing third and fourth with a time of 54.08 seconds. Wolf, Elliot Antel, Teunissen and Kennedy Jasinski finished fifth in the 800 relay. Antel, Hyde, Taylor Wolf and Olivia Barabas took fifth in the 1600 relay. Barabas, Noelle House, Emma Thayer and Addyson Moyle checked in sixth in the 3200 relay.
