Wildcats’ season ends in regional finals

The 2025 softball season came to end Saturday afternoon for Wayland High School in the Division 2 regional finals.

The Wildcats polished off yet another hugely successful campaign, bowing to Wolverine Conference champion Paw Paw 6-2. The ‘Cats blanked South Haven in the regional opener 7-0, but then fell short in the finals to finish the campaign with an overall record of 32-7.

Wayland went undefeated in the O-K Gold Conference again, fashioning a 12-0 record. After that they annexed the school’s 30th district championship in 50 years of action by getting past Hasting, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg and Hopkins.

It was the final high school softball game for seniors Harmony Laker and Izzy Johnson.
