There once was a humorous saying that “History doesn’t repeat it self. Historians do.”
But on Saturday, Stevensville Lakeshore won the Division 2 state softball championship by defeating Trenton 6-2. The Lancers beat Jackson Northwest 1-0 in the quarterfinals and Escanaba 2-1 in the semifinals after getting past Wayland 2-1 in eight innings in the region al finals.
It was the second straight year the Wildcats came up short by one run in extra innings and losing to the eventual state champions. Last year they were edged by Owosso.
Regardless, they finished the overall season with a record of 37-2.
Something to be proud of!!!
