Wayland remains unbeaten this spring in the O-K Gold Conference standings after a doubleheader sweep Tuesday of South Christian.

The Wildcats prevailed 10-4 in the opener and then mercied the Sailors 15-0 in the nightcap.

Sophomore pitcher Harmony Laker was cruising along with an 8-1 lead in the six inning when South Christian pushed across three runs, but she righted the ship quickly and the ‘Cats scored two more in the top of the seventh. Three of the runs scored against Laker were unearned.

Libery Laker, who’s had the hot bat of late, stroked three hits in game one and Carli Miklusicak delivered four RBI’s, three on a double.

Freshman Madi Ludema gave up only one hit and struck out four Sailors in three innings of work on the mound, as the game was shorted because of the 15-run mercy rule.

Lauren Wright, Izzy Johnson and Harmony Laker both had two hits, but the big blow was a three-run homer by first sacker Carli Miklusicak. Harmony laced two doubles and Wright and Kami Morse both also had a two-bagger.

Wayland finished the day with an overall record of 17-7 and the squad is 8-0 in league play.
