Perennial powerhouse Ravenna Friday swept Wayland 10-0 and 4-3 in a season-opening doubleheader. The verdicts enabled the Bulldogs to lift their season record to 8-0.
The Wildcats, 0-2 for the campaign, led most of the way in the nightcap, but Ravenna rallied to overtake them in the seventh and final inning.
Wayland will play next at home Monday afternoon with a doubleheader against O-K Gold Conference rival Grand Rapids West Catholic.
