Wildcats take over 1st place in O-K Gold softball standings

The Wayland girls’ softball team took a major step toward winning yet another O-K Gold Conference softball championship Monday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep of South Christian, 12-5 and 11-8.

The highlight of the day was a three-run homer by Madi Ludema in the 11-8 verdict in the eighth inning. Other offensive fireworks were provided by Madison Jordan with four hits and two runs batted in and Shelby VanHouten with six hits and three RBIs. Catcher Kaylee Lown collected five hits and five RBIs.

‘The victories propelled the Lady Wildcats to a 4-0 record in the O-K Gold Conference standings. The Sailors fell to 3-5.
