The Wayland High School boys’ varsity basketball team Monday evening defeated Hopkins 47-36 in the opening round of the Division 2 post-season district tournament.
The homestanding Wildcats improved to 6-15 for the season overall and will play tourney favorite Holland Christian (12-7) at 5:45 Wednesday in the semifinals.
Hopkins ended its season with an overall record of 6-13. The Vikings lost to Wayland in their season opener 62-51 as well.
