The Wayland varsity baseball team picked up a huge conference victory over the OK-Gold Conference champion Pioneers of East Grand Rapids High School by a score of 15-5 Wednesday.
Picking up the win on the mound for the Wildcats was Carter Morse, who pitched five and two-thirds innings.
The Wildcat offense came alive, pounding out 15 runs on 12 hits. Leading the way were Mitch Dykstra, Travis Cutler, Carter Morse, Chris Kincaid and Jared Rankin.
Dykstra was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and two RBIs. Cutler finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Morse helped his effort on the mound by going 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, two RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Kincaid was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Rankin went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
The Wildcats finished the season with an overall record of 13-22.
