
The Wayland varsity softball team hiked its overall record to 20-4 Saturday afternoon by capturing the first place trophy in the Centreville Tournament.
The Varsity Softball team defeated Constantine, 25-6, in the first game. Madi Ludema took the victory in the circle, with eight strikeouts.
The offense also was led by Ludema, going 5-for-6, with two home Runs and two doubles. Kaylee Lown was 4-5, with a double. Clara Dutkiewicz was 4-6, all singles. Harmony Laker was 2-3, with a home run. Madison Jordan was 2-3, both doubles. Mackenzie Kositzky was 2-4, with a double. Rae Stallard was 2-4, with a home run. Shelby VanHouten added 2 singles. Laney Wolf added a single.
Wayland’s offensive fireworks continued, as they have all season long, led by a quartet of heavy hitters (from left in cover photo) Mackenzie Kositzky, Rae Cardosa, Madi Ludema and Rae Stallard, who last week accounted for seven home runs in a doubleheader.
The Widlcats defeated Centreville in the championship round. Harmony Laker took the victory in the circle, allowing four hits and striking out eight.
Ludema again paced the offense going 2-3, both singles. Kositzky was also 2-3, both singles. Madison Jordan was 2-3, with a home run and 4 RBIs.
Laney Wolf was 2-2, both singles. Kennedy Lown was 1-1, with a single. Shelby VanHouten was 2-4, with a double. Kaylee Lown added a single. Laker added a home run.
The Wildcats will be back in action Monday with a twin bill against Cedar Springs.
