The Hopkins varsity softball team had a really bad day against non-league opponent Buchanan Monday, losing 17-1 and 9-2.
The doubleheader losses dropped the Lady Vikings’ overall season record to 5-6.
Hopkins managed only three hits in the first game and seven in the second. Rachel Black had two of the hits in the nightcap. Losing pitcher Dahlia Veldhouse drove in a couple of runs. She went six innings on the mound.
Sierra Smith took the pitching defeat in the opener, hurling five innings.
