The Martin varsity baseball season was concluded Saturday in the Division District 4 tournament with a 12-3 loss to Holland Christian,

Zeke Dillenbeck went the distance on the mound, and only one of the dozen runs he yielded was earned.

“Zeke pitched a good game,” said coach Jon Gambee. “And we hit the ball well, but too often right at somebody. We only had two strikeouts.”

The loss dropped the Clippers’ final record this season to 5-17 overall.

Martin often was referred to as a “homeless’ team this season because it did not have a home field as a result of construction at the school.

Yet Gambee noted that his ballclub was regarded as the home team for the first and only time this season Saturday because it won the coin flip.
