The Martin girls’ bowling team placed 13th among the state’s top 16 teams Friday in the Division 4 state bowling tournament at Northway Lanes in Muskegon.
The Lady Clippers failed to make the cut to go into the quarterfinal round of competition.
Martin knocked down 678 and 728 pins for a combined total of 2,549. The Clippers’ scores were 159, 169, 147, 114, 131, 143, 135 and 145. Traverse City Christian was crowned state champion with a combined total; of 3,066 pins.
The Lady Clippers qualified for the state tournament by taking second the week before in the regionals at Bronson. They were winners of the Central Division title in the Southwest Athletic Conference with a 14-1 dual match record.
Martin boys’ and girls’ team use the Rock ‘N Bowl Lanmes just north of Wayland for their home matches.
