Martin girls, sans Conley, still take 2nd at Bangor meet

The Martin girls’ track team Saturday captured the runner-up spot in the Bangor Invitational. The boys’ team placed seventh.

The Lady Clippers scored 67 team points, well behind invitational champion Constantine’s 149. The Constantine bouys also won that side of the competition with 153 points, which Martin scoring 35. Ten teams were featured in the girls’ meet and nine competed among boys.

Interestingly, the girls finished second as a. team without ace distance runner Veyda Conley.

Kylie Buell, MyKenna Ten Haaf, Sara Schipper and Torryn Harris hooked up for a second in the 400-meter relay. The same foursome was third in the 800 relay and second in the 3200 relay.

Freshman Emma Dettman checked in fourth in the 800-meter run.

Allison Rodgers was third in the 1600 and teammate DuRae Sage was sixth. Rodgers was second in the 3200 and Sage fourth.

Riley Bender took third in the 300-meter hurdles and she was fourth in the high jump.

Aliyah DeGlopper turned in a second place performance in the shot put and was fourth in the discus.

For the boys, the 3200 relay squad with Dettman, Gari Salvidor-Garcia, Hayes and Jeremiah VanHouten placed third.

Peyton Schuring-Harris was third in the shot put and third in the discus.

Blake Sweeting placed third in the high jump and Seth Smit was third in the long jump.

Dettman was sixth in the 800.

Hunter Hayes took fifth in the 3200.
