To the editor:

I fully support the bond issue. I have never had children in school but I have lived in this community for 40 years and for 27 of those years I proudly worked at the elementary.
I think most people realize how old the middle school is so I want to talk about the fine arts center.
When I first came to Hopkins there was really no “arts” program other than band. Today our visual arts program regularly wins awards. The choirs are amazing, also winning at festivals. And dramatic arts (musicals)……well, take a walk down the middle school corridor by the cafeteria and take a look at all the amazing productions
Hundreds of students participate in these programs yet they perform in gyms and “cafetoriums”. It is time for the recognition they deserve.
We have beautiful sports facilities, let’s do the same for the arts.
I have “Vote Yes” signs too, if you want one just message me.
